Intensive EMDR is a focused, accelerated format of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy designed to create meaningful change in a condensed period of time. Instead of weekly sessions, intensive EMDR offers longer, structured blocks of therapy—often over one to three consecutive days—to help you move through stuck trauma responses more efficiently.
This format allows us to work deeply and continuously, without the interruptions or time limits that can slow progress in traditional weekly therapy. Many clients find that intensives help them reach clarity and relief more quickly, especially when they’re dealing with long-standing trauma, a recent distressing event, or patterns that haven’t shifted with standard therapy.
Intensive EMDR may be helpful if you:
Because we meet for longer timeframes, your nervous system has the space to settle, process, and integrate without being rushed.
Every intensive is tailored to you, but will include:
1. A Comprehensive Assessment and Treatment Plan
Before we begin, we meet to explore what you’re hoping for, understand your history, and create a plan that feels safe and aligned with your goals.
2. Preparation & Stabilisation
We spend time strengthening inner resources, building grounding tools, and ensuring you feel supported before trauma processing begins.
3. Extended EMDR Sessions
These sessions will be for several hours per day, depending on the package you choose. We move at your rhythm, pausing whenever you need grounding, rest, or integration.
4. EMDR Reprocessing
We work gently and collaboratively to help your nervous system release the intensity of past experiences. You remain in control throughout the process.
5. Integration Support
After the intensive, you receive a follow-up session to help you integrate the changes, answer questions, and determine next steps.
We start with a consultation—either in person or online—where we explore:
This helps us determine whether an intensive is a good fit and what structure would feel safest and most effective for you. Intensives can be particularly well suited to
If an intensive isn’t the right match, I’ll share other options that can support your healing.
An EMDR Intensive may not be suitable if you are in the middle of a big life transition, are experiencing a mental health crisis or if you have a tendency to severely dissociate.
Every person’s experience is different, but many clients report:
Healing continues to unfold even after the intensive ends, as your nervous system integrates the shifts we began together.
Your Safety Comes First
The heart of intensive EMDR is compassionate pacing. Throughout the process, we check in, slow down when needed, and ensure your nervous system remains within a safe, supported window of tolerance.
You will never be asked to push beyond what feels manageable.
We will take regular breaks for food, drink and movement. You will have been supported to consider what you do before and after the sessions to ensure that you feel cared for.

Falmouth is a beautiful setting for time away from your everyday life and responsibilities. Many people find that coming away for several days of intensive therapy allows them the time and space to integrate the work between the sessions.
Falmouth is a vibrant coastal town known for its maritime heritage, stunning beaches and cultural attractions. It is a prime destination for those seeking a blend of nature and wellness. The town's tourism is deeply rooted in the tradition of swimming and sauna culture, offering a unique experience that combines the invigorating warmth of a sauna with the refreshing chill of the sea. There are plenty of opportunities to engage in exercise, to feel part of the community or simply to rest and restore whilst you are here.
I am really happy to make suggestions on activities that you may wish to consider whilst you are here.
Accommodation is not included as part of the package and needs to be booked separately. I am happy to advise on queries regarding location of accommodation and suitability for reaching the Bird House.
If you live locally it would be suggested that you ensure you have time and space to rest after your intensive sessions.
We will have a thorough assessment prior to your intensive so should have identified goals that are likely to be met within the time frame. However, it is not always possible to predict how a person will process during therapy and so there is the possibility that you may require some further sessions after your intensive. We will discuss this during the assessment.
We will initially have an assessment appointment to decide together whether an EMDR Intensive would be suitable for you. The fee for this appointment will be taken at the time of booking. If we decide to go ahead then the cost of the initial assessment cost will be deducted from the total cost of the intensive package.
If we mutually decide to go ahead with the intensive package then I politely ask for 50% of the total cost to be paid for at this time. This is non-refundable although with enough notice it may be possible to rearrange the dates if required.
The remainder of the balance needs to be paid 7 days before the intensive is due. This is non-refundable.
If I am required to cancel the intensive for any unexpected reason then you will be fully refunded and we can reschedule if you would like to.
We will have discussed resourcing/coping strategies in advance of the intensive and this will include a plan for managing after the session.
I am not able to provide a crisis service so in the very unlikely event that you require additional support it would involve contact with local/national services which we will have already discussed.
Please use the form below or send me an email in the first instance so that we can discuss whether an EMDR Intensive is the right choice for you.
